Hazy Forest Flowers

On a hazy day in late spring, flowers line the forest floor beneath towering, old trees. Wisteria, dandelions, and other blossoms scatter color among the sea of green in this fanciful view of a sprawling woodland on a very sunny day.

Corn Maze Adventure

An autumn tradition in much of the eastern US (and probably anywhere with cornfields) is the corn maze. These mazes can take many forms, from simple ones for young kids and their parents, to complex patterns that change every year with hidden secrets within the maze. Either way, they are a great opportunity to get some exercise while walking amid the glowing, golden corn under the blue skies of early autumn.

Eclipsing Storm

A late spring thunderstorm rolls over the trees and meadows, eclipsing the sun behind dark clouds as it passes by.

Snowmelt and Driftwood

On a warm winter day, golden sunlight highlights the snow-covered trees by a winding river. Though more snow may be on its way, this sunny break in the clouds is more than welcome.

Labor Day by the River

Here in the U.S., this is Labor Day weekend, a celebration of the working class and all the effort they have put into building this nation. So, it seems to me to be a good time to go for a walk in the woods to enjoy the meandering river and the late summer sun beneath the trees and on the drying grass. Work can wait for another time!

Sunlight on a Snowy River

Winter is here, and we've had some snow flurries and threats of more significant snowfall already, but few things beat a river in winter for interest and seasonal beauty. Sunlight glows in the evergreens, as the cold water slowly flows past amid the ice and rocks. Here and there, snow falls from the trees as the low-angle sunlight melts it away on a warm winter day.
