Istanbul Sunset with storm clouds

This painting is a variation of one painted over a year ago. The original was based upon a sunset my family and I saw over the Bosphorus in Istanbul while looking westwards towards the Hagia Sofia. Some interest was expressed in a copy of this painting in portrait format, so I created this version of the original. Enjoy!

Acrylic painting: 14" x 17" (framed, SOLD)

  2. This is such a familiar sight when standing on the Asian side of Istanbul. You captured it so beautifully, Matt! I love how the clouds are illuminated from beneath by the sunset. The building silhouettes along the skyline are so detailed. And you always see a ferry boat passing by when standing along the dock by the Bosphorus. What a beautiful painting. You are so talented, Matt!

  3. Hi Matt. This is Alpaslan here I think it's a beautiful painting. This painting resembles the enterance of the golden horn seen possibly from Kadikoy shore. I think you have been inspired by the blue mosque on the left, Selimiye mosque on the right and Fatih mosque in the middle and towards the background. I am used to see and like this view a lot because this was where I spent a lot of my high school and college years. I am happy that you think the same way
